The past few weeks have been filled with devastating news, and we are deeply saddened and outraged by the senseless murder of yet another unarmed Black person at the hands of law enforcement. This is a moment of collective and historical anguish.
Animal Outlook opposes all forms of oppression, including racism, and we will not tolerate racism inside or outside of our organization. We stand in solidarity with the Black community, with all of the countless victims of racism and violence, and with those fighting against racism, oppression and injustice everywhere.
We’re actively seeking ways to stay engaged. We’ll continue to support Black-owned vegan businesses and amplify the voices that must be heard. And we encourage friends of Animal Outlook to also support Black Lives Matter and other groups working toward racial justice.
We also wanted to share this list of actions we can all take to help build a more just, equitable world. This list of resources is extremely helpful, too.
We are committed to the societal fight against injustice and will not remain silent; we do not support the status quo.
Together, we will continue educating, continue fighting, and continue looking for ways to help.

Erica has served as President for Animal Outlook since 2005, after being an active volunteer starting in 2000. Since taking the helm, she’s taken the organization to new heights with continued growth and accomplishments for animals that include ending the egg industry’s use of the misleading claim “Animal Care Certified” and successfully persuading BOCA foods to stop using eggs. Vegan for more than 25 years, Erica has been working in the animal protection field since college. In 2013, she was honored with the prestigious Animal Rights Hall of Fame award.
