What’s better than a Valentine’s Day vegan cupcake giveaway? FOUR Valentine’s Day vegan cupcake giveaways. 💚🧁
Last week, Animal Outlook teams spread kindness to animals in the sweetest way possible—by hosting vegan cupcake giveaways in CA, DC, CT, and NV. We invited communities to show love to all animals by sampling delicious plant-based treats and taking the VegPledge.
Across all four cities, the response was overwhelmingly positive. At UCLA, our “swole” chapter leader Zachary had a great conversation about reaching protein goals with tofu, tempeh, and seitan. At American University in DC, many students shared they’d tried going vegan before or were already vegetarian, with one student expressing they wanted to make the transition but needed more guidance on campus dining options. The common thread everywhere? People were genuinely surprised the cupcakes were vegan, often saying they couldn’t tell the difference from traditional recipes.
In Las Vegas, we joined the Puppy Love event at Silverado Ranch Park, where families gathered to celebrate animals with adoptions and resources. Our volunteers connected with community members over those same delicious cupcakes, which opened doors to talk about simple swaps like using mashed banana or applesauce instead of eggs, and exploring protein-rich foods like lentils, quinoa, and chickpeas.
What moved us most were the personal stories that emerged. One woman in Las Vegas shared that she’d gone vegan during Lent and seeing us inspired her to try again. At UCLA, a student asked why Zachary became vegan and ended up in a deep conversation about factory farming, documentaries like Dominion, and the undercover investigations our organization conducts.
Someone else genuinely wanted to make the change and asked for resources, taking the VegPledge right there. We met vegetarians and pescetarians across all locations who realized they were already most of the way to a fully plant-based lifestyle.
Of course, some people walked away quickly saying they could never go vegan—which is exactly why we keep showing up.
One woman was visibly moved by what she saw, commenting on how awful the conditions were for chickens. Between all four events, we distributed hundreds of cupcakes and leaflets, with students and community members scanning QR codes for recipes and taking materials home.
We’re not just handing out cupcakes—we’re planting seeds of compassion, one conversation at a time. A huge thank you to our incredible chapter leaders—Zachary, Sarah Lu, and Hannah, and volunteers Aldana, Jeremy, Cole, Allie and Michael—who made these four events happen in their communities. And to our indefatigable Outreach Director, Casey Kern, whose vision and dedication make all of this possible.
Here’s to spreading more love in 2026. 🌱
