Milk PricesLate last month, we announced that COK uncovered yet more unethical behavior by dairy industry giants. Our initial research led to a class action lawsuit, filed by Hagens Bergan on behalf of consumers, accusing several dairy industry groups of working collectively to implement a $9.5 billion price-fixing scheme that involved killing 500,000 young cows in order to inflate milk prices nationwide.

This case has been garnering significant media attention — from The Los Angeles Times to the Seattle Weekly to the Syracuse Post-Standard and many more — alerting countless consumers to the dairy industry’s unethical practices.

Coverage also includes a hard-hitting report by the ABC affiliate in Seattle, which featured COK’s new undercover footage shedding light on the realities of today’s dairy factory farms. And according to a story in the LAist, “the words ‘dairy’ and ‘disaster’ have become synonymous, thanks to the corrupt, abusive practices of dairy corporations…” We couldn’t agree more.

Industry journalists are also talking about this case, including Andy Vance, an agribusiness columnist who stated in a recent Feedstuffs article:

“Leading the move…in the animal rights movement [is] Compassion Over Killing. Taking an industry marketing program to court appears to be a novel approach to the movement’s mission of ending animal agriculture.”
