Days before doors open for the largest vegan eating festival on the East Coast, Mayor Muriel Bowser issued an official proclamation declaring the date of the event, August 11th, 2019, “DC VegFest Day.”

The proclamation was inspired by Compassion Over Killing’s annual event which draws thousands of vegans and pre-vegans to Washington, DC every year. Mayor Bowser cites DC VegFest as an event for Washingtonians to gather and learn more about vegan eating, a lifestyle with benefits to animals, our health, and the environment.

It also mentions the many DC-based vegan businesses that will be partaking in the DC VegFest. In many ways, the District has been paving the way for vegan eating, and is home to all sorts of plant-based restaurants to please any palate.

This year’s event is set to be even bigger and more exciting due to a move to a new venue: Nationals Park! This spacious and dynamic venue will bring even more fun, offering attendees shade from the sun as well as other exciting amenities like a kids playground and dog-friendly Barking Lot.

The 2019 main stage will be emceed by DC comedian Sean Savoy, and throughout the day, dynamic speakers will share inspiring talks while expert chefs will dazzle the crowd with their culinary creations. We’re also featuring a new TryVeg Tasting Booth, featuring additional chefs sharing their creative meal ideas and lots of free food samples!

Come celebrate with us on DC VegFest day at Nationals Park from 11am-5:30pm. Can’t wait to see you there!
