What happens when you put a vegan chef on a cooking competition show that is all about skill, speed, and ingenuity? They win, of course. That’s exactly what happened on Tuesday night when Philadelphia restaurant Vedge’s chef Rich Landau competed on the Food Network’s Chopped.
Big Ag Bullies US House to End Meatless Monday Promos
You might be surprised to learn that cafeterias in the US House on Capitol Hill have been advocating “Meatless Mondays.” But you’re probably not surprised to hear that after this caught the attention of the Big Ag lobby, those signs promoting the idea of choosing a meat-free meal at least one day a week were removed.
One Year Later: Vegan Options at Subway?
Through Compassion Over Killing’s campaign website, WeLoveSubway.com, thousands of consumers have been urging Subway – the world’s largest restaurant chain – to offer more substantial protein-packed vegan meals. As a growing number of Americans continue reaching for healthier and more humane options, how is the company responding to this increase in demand for hearty, meat-free meals?

The First-Ever Rehoboth Beach VegFest a Success!
On Sat., June 1, 2013 over 600 people joined us at Epworth United Methodist Church in Rehoboth Beach, DE to celebrate vegetarian foods during the first-ever Rehoboth Beach VegFest. Festival-goers spent the day indulging in vegan food, listening to speakers, browsing the vendor shops, and enjoying the gorgeous weather.
Even before the festival opened, dozens of eager attendees walked around to visit the over 35 exhibitor booths. Within the first half an hour of the festival opening, volunteers had distributed all 300 of our free goodie bags, filled with free products, coupons, and other items from our sponsors to excited attendees.
Veg Advocacy at the Office

PCRM, which promotes plant-based eating as preventative medicine, also encourages vegan recipe exchanges and food sharing (people take turns making smoothies certain mornings.) Why implement these initiatives? PCRM Director of Nutrition Education Susan Levin says simply, “We want to practice what we preach.”
