“Spring Cleaning” is a phrase many of us are familiar with, and we often use the first warm days of the year to deep clean our houses, update our wardrobes for spring weather, or even reorganize various aspects of our lives. 5 Reasons Why You NEED to Intern at COK!
For some, summer is just about a few trips to the beach, the occasional cookout, or getting the perfect tan. But for a select few, it’s about how many leaflets you can distribute at the upcoming street festival or persuading an area restaurant to offer vegan options. Compassion Over Killing at the iV Vegan Conference
This past weekend, Compassion Over Killing proudly participated in the 2nd annual iV Vegan Conference, a student activism and academic conference for students at Ivy League schools. Check out the photos below!
With about 150 attendees, the iV conference was a huge success. The event brought together student activists from each of the Ivy League schools to learn about all things vegan: animal protection, human nutrition, environmental issues related to factory farming, and activism. Cheryl Leahy, Compassion Over Killing’s very own General Counsel, gave a powerful presentation about how new restrictive Anti-Whistleblower laws could dramatically impact how we conduct undercover investigations.
DC Celebrates 4th Annual Meat Free Week
Now in its fourth year, the much-anticipated DC Meat-Free Week is in full swing, from Feb. 4-11, 2013. Presented by the Kindness Collective Compassion Over Killing, and DC Vegan, this week-long celebration is a direct response to (and kicks off immediately after) the artery clogging Meat Week.
West Coast Winter Outreach Spreads Compassion and Holiday Cheer
In the spirit of the season, COK volunteers are showing off their compassion and spreading holiday cheer by giving out free vegan food samples!
Texas is typically known for its cowboy cravings of meaty BBQ and chili, though vegetarian eating is gaining traction. Case in point: Austin’s Lone Star Vegetarian Chili Cook-Off! Our amazing volunteer, Amanda Sullivan, led the COK team in this serious cooking competition, delivering a mouth-watering vegan Pumpkin Chili that incorporated fall’s favorite fruit. Both the crowd and judges loved the hearty stew–people were even taking photos of the recipe! (included at end of blog)
