Spreading Compassion and PRIDE in LA and DC

Sunday, June 9 marked the annual Capital Pride Festival in Washington, DC and the L.A. Pride Celebration and Parade in Los Angeles, CA. As in previous years, Compassion Over Killing was excited to join the festivities by distributing hundreds of free vegan food samples and thousands of pro-veg literature.

In the nation’s capital, COK staff and interns were joined by 12 enthusiastic volunteers at our booth, handing out Easy Vegan Recipes and our popular Vegetarian Guide to D.C.  We also dished out bite-sized samples of Field Roast frankfurters and sausage links, which even the most skeptical of festival-goers found delicious. Capital Pride attendees were so receptive to our message of compassion that we ran out of literature and food samples before the festival ended.

prideIn LA, COK interns and volunteers hit the parade, handing out pro-veg literature and free vegan product coupons. The small, yet tenacious team dispatched their brochures quickly and had a blast in the energetic, fast-paced crowd.

Pride events foster a supportive atmosphere of solidarity and compassion for all. Animal activists therefore have a valuable opportunity to remind attendees that “No one is free while others are oppressed.” COK’s team of dedicated volunteers spread this message through 800 free vegan food samples and more than 8,000 pieces of pro-veg literature.
