Morningstar Goes Vegan with Three Chick’n Products

Vegans, rejoice: Thanks to a Vegan Outreach campaign, Morningstar Farms just announced that three of their meatless “chicken” options are now available fully vegan.

Many plant-based eaters have long been disappointed that Morningstar, a household name when it comes to meat alternatives, still uses egg and dairy ingredients. In 2008, in response to an Animal Outlook campaign with Vegan Outreach, Morningstar took a big step forward by cutting out one million eggs in their products and saving the lives of about 4,000 hens every year. Now, cutting out eggs and dairy completely from these three items will have an even greater impact on the mother cows and birds who are exploited every day on cruel factory farms.

As the plant-based market continues to boom, vegan companies are seeing huge growth, and vegan food is becoming more accessible–and delicious. The new vegan Morningstar products will include three classics: Buffalo Wings, Chick’n Nuggets, and Buffalo Chik Patties.

As Morningstar begins to catch up with consumer demands, other companies are falling behind. BOCA, owned by Kraft Heinz, committed in 2010 to ending their use of eggs after hearing from thousands through a COK campaign. But the brand still uses dairy ingredients in many of their products. Join us TODAY in telling BOCA not to fall behind their competitors in this plant-powered revolution by transitioning to an all-vegan brand.

SAMPLE SCRIPT: Hi, my name is _____ and I’m calling as a consumer to urge you to drop dairy from the BOCA brand. Morningstar Farms just announced that it’s turning three of its veggie chicken products vegan, and last year, Lightlife decided it would go 100 percent vegan. If Morningstar, Lightlife, Beyond Meat Gardein, and others can cater more and more to the massive, growing market of dairy- and egg-free eaters, why can’t BOCA? It’s time to ditch dairy and move BOCA toward an all-vegan brand.
