You know those moments when someone from your team does something that makes you stop and think, “This is why we do what we do”? That’s happening on Sunday, November 16.
Erin Wing, our Deputy Director of Investigations, is stepping out from behind the hidden cameras that have defined her career to stand on the TEDx stage in Bellevue, Washington. Her talk, “The Inconvenient Plate: How Our Food Choices Affect Our Climate,” will be a raw, unflinching look at what happens when someone decides to seek truth in places designed to hide it.
For two years, Erin worked undercover on factory farms documenting what 99% of us never see. She’s witnessed firsthand how a $175 billion industry operates when it thinks no one is watching.
Erin’s journey began not in activism circles or environmental conferences, but growing up in low-income housing where fast food was survival, not choice. Where the nearest grocery store was an hour away. Where the same communities targeted by predatory food marketing suffer most from its consequences.
At Animal Outlook, we’ve always believed that truth and choice go hand in hand. Every investigation Erin has led, every piece of footage she’s captured, every moment of isolation and physical hardship she’s endured has been in service of one principle: people deserve to know what they’re supporting with their dollars.
This Sunday, November 16, from 3-5pm PST, Erin will share what she’s learned from the inside. As she’ll tell the audience, borrowing from a childhood favorite: “You are who you choose to be.”
If you’re in the Bellevue area, consider attending. If not, stay tuned – we’ll share the recording once it’s available. Because some truths are too important to stay hidden.
