As the number of Americans choosing plant-based foods continues to grow, so too do the vegan options in restaurants and grocery stores nationwide. From Chipotle’s sofritas and White Castle’s veggie slider to almond milk at Dunkin’ Donuts and dairy-free fro-yo at TCBY, it’s never been easier to leave animals off our plates. And now Target is making it even easier!

The company’s health-focused “Simply Balanced” private line recently launched four varieties of veggie meats: Mushroom Miso Meatless Turkey, Korean Barbecue Meatless Chicken, Smoky Chipotle Meatless Chicken, and Teriyaki Meatless Chicken.

You’ll find these vegan meats in the frozen section of Target, and while not every location has a grocery section, most  of its nearly 2,000 stores have been or in the process of being renovated as the company is turning its focus to groceries.

According to Target spokesperson Anne Christensen: “At Target, we’re continuously working to develop new and exciting products that embody the Simply Balanced mission — great-tasting food that takes the guesswork out of eating well. Target recognizes that select guests are looking for meat-alternative offerings, so we look for opportunities to meet these guests’ needs.”

These new vegan options at Target are not only convenient and delicious, it’s more proof that meat-free eating is thriving in mainstream America – and that’s good news for our health, for the planet and for animals!

You can help keep the momentum: Let Subway know that as more places dish out veggie options, you’re still waiting for hearty, protein-packed vegan subs to be added to their menu nationwide.
