Help AnimalsEarlier this month, the Judge’s Bench Pub, a local favorite in historic Ellicott City, Md., hosted a benefit for Compassion Over Killing –  100% of the proceeds from its special vegan menu were generously donated to help us help animals.

Along with the pub’s standard vegan fare of Tofurky Beer Brats, Boca Jammies, and Black Bean Burritos, the special menu for the night featured three new vegan options: Vegan Nachos (made with Teese Vegan Cheese), White Bean Chik’n Chili, and a Vegan Chik’n Cheese Steak. Both of the “chik’n” dishes were made with the delicious new Beyond Meat.

The vegan menu was a huge hit with the kitchen selling out of all three specials! In fact, the new dishes loaded with Beyond Meat were so popular, the restaurant has decided to continue offering “chik’n” as a permanent menu item.

After the dinner rush, people stayed at the bar to enjoy pints of Oktoberfest beer and listen to the entertainment for the night: classic soul band the Oz Revue. The band supported the benefit by calling out raffle prize winners between sets and reminding the crowd that they were there to support the animals. Guitarist Gary Loewenthal even wore his Compassion Over Killing t-shirt!
