BOCA vegan falafel hits shelves, but many products still contain dairy
Kraft Heinz is getting on board with more vegan options with their newest BOCA product: Plant-based falafel. This new line contains no egg or dairy ingredients and is made from non-GMO chickpeas. It comes in two flavors: Original and chipotle.
This is great news for animals and vegans alike, but this Kraft Heinz brand is still behind when it comes to the quickly expanding plant-based market. Despite rolling out fully vegan snacks, most of their products still contain milk. With plant-based alternatives on the rise, there’s simply no need to use cow’s milk.
BOCA has already eliminated eggs from its vegetarian line, so why not go all the way and eliminate dairy? Nearly 50,000 people have signed our petition asking Kraft Heinz to cut down on cruelty and ditch dairy in the brand. If you haven’t signed yet, check it out here.
Every four-piece serving of these frozen falafel bites are a great source of iron, offering 10 percent of the recommended daily value. Each serving offers seven grams of protein that’s derived from non-GMO chickpeas, along with seven grams of fiber. These easy to make falafel bites are a great addition to a vegetarian or vegan diet, and you can prepare them in the microwave or oven. Enjoy these falafel bites by themselves or follow the provided recipe on the 10 ounce package to create a creamy Greek cucumber dip for added flavor. The resealable pouch contains 3.5 servings, so you can cook up a tasty snack and store the rest in the freezer.
Want to make sure Kraft Heinz hears that we want all BOCA products to be completely plant-based? Tweet at the food giant:
