In March, Compassion Over Killing prompted a buzzworthy announcement of a brand new line of vegan foods coming to Starbucks this year. Now, that plant-based menu is rolling out, as the coffee chain debuts a vegan cookie nationwide.
The new Macadamia Oat cookie marks the first vegan treat available across the country, now at most Starbucks locations!
Starbucks describes the confection: “Our vegan cookie includes oatmeal, macadamia nuts, almonds and coconut plus the delightful tang of dried cranberries. Scrumptious on its own and even better alongside a cup of coffee or tea.”
The announcement comes on the heels of the chain debuting a protein-packed lentil bowl in select cities, and a plant-based passionfruit cupcake that’s sweetening its Miami menus.
Starbucks, which also offers soy, almond, and coconut milks, has said “Plant-based beverages and alternatives [are a] big area of opportunity for us and our customers are asking for it.”
As support pours in for Compassion Over Killing and Jane Velez-Mitchell’s petition, already signed by tens of thousands urging Starbucks to offer hearty plant-based foods to fuel mornings nationwide, we hope more options will be brewed up soon.
