Inspiring Compassion at the Texas State Veggie Fair

smcdonaldUncategorized Leave a Comment

This past weekend in Dallas, thousands of people gathered together to celebrate – and indulge in delicious vegan food – at the third annual Texas State Veggie Fair, organized by Dallas Vegan!  And COK was thrilled to be part of this year’s festivities.

While the main attraction was the food with over two dozen restaurants, including the famous all-vegan Spiral Diner (pictured here), offering everything from vegan corn dogs to kale salad, the event also featured cooking demos, kids games, live music, speakers, and more.

COK was honored to speak on a panel with The Kindness Collective and Mercy for Animals aiming to empower people to stand up for animals in a few simple steps in our every day lives — from making kinder food choices ourselves to inspiring others to do the same.

We shared tips and ideas for encouraging restaurants to add vegan options, asking school cafeterias to participate in Meatless Mondays, talking with your local representatives about publicly supporting the benefits of choosing meat-free foods, and much more.

We also shared information at our educational booth where we talked with hundreds of people about joining our efforts to protect farmed animals, gave out free copies of our popular Easy Vegan Recipes booklet, and asked festival-goers to take 30 seconds to send a message to Subway urging the company to add vegan options nationwide
