MorningStar Farms Goes Fully Vegan

In a huge win for animals, leading meatless brand MorningStar Farms has announced that its entire product line will be fully vegan by 2021.

The transition has already begun, with the company announcing three new vegan chick’n products last summer.

With urging from Vegan Outreach and Animal Outlook, in 2008 MorningStar reduced its use of eggs by one million per year —  positively impacting the lives of thousands of egg-laying hens.

Now, after continued campaigning by Vegan Outreach, the company is going fully vegan–thanks to the organization’s petition with more than 7,000 signatures urging the company to remove eggs and dairy from its products.

“This is a very exciting opportunity for us – by making this change, MorningStar Farms favorites can be enjoyed by even more people at home and on-the-go who strive to add plant-based proteins to their plate,” said Mel Cash, head of global marketing for plant based protein at Kellogg Company.

Soon, vegans won’t have to check MorningStar labels and can trust that the full line will be kind to animals. This change could potentially have exciting implications for vegan fast food options as well, as the brand currently supplies meatless options to both Subway and Burger King.

This news includes another development: MorningStar Farms will also be debuting a new vegan “Cheezeburger,” packing in 23 grams of plant-based protein.

It’s time for a better BOCA, too: With companies like MorningStar Farms and Lightlife going completely vegan and opening up their products to a wider (and rapidly growing) market, once-household name BOCA is falling behind. It’s time to catch up and ditch cruel animal products once and for all.

To urge BOCA to follow MorningStar’s lead and make its products fully vegan, sign and share the petition today.
