Earlier this month, COK released a powerful new undercover video exposing horrors for pigs inside a slaughter plant that exclusively supplies Hormel, the makers of SPAM. This facility is one of five in the US operating under a USDA-approve pilot program — known as HIMP — that allows for faster slaughter speeds and fewer on-site government inspectors.
What we found is a high-speed slaughter hell. Even the USDA condemned the cruelty we uncovered as “appalling and completely unacceptable.”
Since this story broke, our video has gone viral with over one million views in one week, and it’s made international headlines — from the Washington Post and the homepage of Huffington Post to the UK’s Daily Mail and India.com.
We also launched a petition on Change.org urging Hormel and the USDA to put an end to this high-speed, reduced-inspection slaughter program.
