COK’s Veg-Friendly Dining Guide Wins “Best of Austin” Award!

Compassion Over Killing is thrilled to announce that our popular website, VegAustin.com, just received a Best of Austin 2011 award! Our veg-friendly online dining guide was named “Best Virtual Veggies” by the Austin Chronicle — and we share this honor with the good folks at The Vegetarian Network of Austin.

Launched in 2007, VegAustin.com highlights just how easy it is to find veg-friendly foods in and around ATX. In addition to listing dozens of restaurants, grocery stores, caterers, and bakeries dishing out delicious meat-free options, the website features local events, news, and other helpful resources. You can even request a free printed Vegetarian Guide to Austin to carry with you wherever you go.

Of course, in addition to managing this award-winning “Virtual Veggie” resource, we love to have some offline fun, too!

That’s why we want you to help us “keep chili weird” by joining us at the 23rd Annual Lone Star Vegetarian Chili Cook-Off on Sun., November 13. We’ll be there, along with other veggie loving Austinites to distribrute pro-veg literature as well as sample tons of tasty vegan chili!

Held in Round Rock at Settler’s Park, the Lone Star Vegetarian Chili Cook-Off draws in thousands of people including over 20 teams competing for meat-free glory. Plus there’s live music, speakers, door prizes and giveaways. Tickets to taste all of the chilis are $8 for adults and $4 for children.
