Vegan baking is catching on — and vegan bakeries are winning awards, whipping up sweet victories for consumers and animals, alike.
Since Washington, DC’s very own Sticky Fingers Sweets & Eats became the first vegan bakery to win Food Network’s Cupcake Wars in 2011, they’ve gone on to win the All-Stars edition–and now, another vegan bakery has taken home the top spot on the show!
Last week, Cupcake Wars announced a new winner: Papa Ganache, a vegan bakery from Matawan, New Jersey. This once again reminds viewers that we can satisfy our sweet tooth with delicious egg- and dairy-free treats.
Competing against four other bakeries, one bakery was eliminated in each round for three rounds. The final challenge was between Papa Ganache and Sweet Magnolia Bakery (another all-vegan cupcakery!) Both bakeries had to bake 1,000 cupcakes in two hours, and the winning cupcakes would be served at the People’s Choice Awards after party.
The cupcakes that lead Papa Ganache to the win included the chocolate ganache with salted caramel cupcake, the creme brûlée cupcake, and the gluten-free lemon cupcake, among others.
The bakery held a viewing party when the episode aired on April 21, and proudly displayed the win in their storefront.
