It’s National Pig Day!
Did you know that pigs have excellent long-term memories? That they can learn what a mirror image is? Read more about these remarkably intelligent and social animals and what they have to say.
They’re even smarter than dogs, the beloved companion animals with whom so many of us share our homes!
Still, sadly, more than 115 million pigs are slaughtered for food in the US each year, most of them confined and suffering in filthy conditions on factory farms.
In honor of National Pig Day, we’re spotlighting easy ways you can make a difference for pigs.
Here are two easy ways YOU can help pigs today!
- Sign & Share: Ask Hormel Foods & USDA to stop cruel & dangerous high-speed pig slaughter! Since Compassion Over Killing’s gut-wrenching investigation exposing egregious cruelty at a pig slaughterhouse exclusive supplying Hormel Foods, more than 195,000 people have signed our Change.org petition to stop the USDA’s dangerous reduced inspection, high-speed slaughter pilot program known as “HIMP.”Help us reach our goal of 250,000 signatures! Click here to tweet our petition with this message: SIGN & SHARE! @HormelFoods @USDA: Stop dangerous high-speed slaughter of pigs https://ctt.ec/kcbf9+
