Dairy-free is in demand! Sales of dairy milk are slumping, and as time and again investigations reveal the cruelty of cow’s milk, consumers are turning to kinder, healthier plant-based milks. And the vegan cheese market is expected to continue soaring, surpassing $3.5 billion by 2020.
Pizza is no exception: in fact, a report by international restaurant consultants Baum + Whiteman stated that 2018 will bring the widespread adoption of vegan cheese on pizza and burger chain menus.
Domino’s Australia is seeing the power of this dairy-free pizza demand, as the company keeps selling out of its new menu item: vegan cheese by Follow Your Heart!
“We knew the response was going to be big after the demand we saw for the product on social media. But we had no idea it was going to be this big,” said the CEO of Domino’s Australia and New Zealand.
As Metro reports, the company offers three vegan pizzas on its Australian menus: the Vegan Avocado Veg, the Vegan Spicy Trio and the Vegan Margherita.
U.S.-based pizza chains like Mellow Mushroom, Lebron James’ Blaze Pizza, and Pieology (as well as Pizza Hut in the UK) are all getting a slice of the pie in the growing vegan market by offering dairy-free cheese.
But other chains in the U.S. continue to lag behind their competitors who are serving up vegan pizza everyone can enjoy! You can help change that today:
