This week, Compassion Over Killing’s costumed cow churned out vegan ice cream samples at Häagen-Dazs’ Free Cone Day in Washington, DC to spread kindness for the cows suffering behind the Nestlé brand’s ice cream.

Compassion Over Killing’s recent investigation exposed massive suffering behind Nestlé’s ice cream brands: Häagen-Dazs, Edy’s, and Dreyer’s. Hot irons are burned into calves’ flesh to destroy their horns and tissue in a cruel, unnecessary process known as “dehorning” or “disbudding.”

Cutting ties with this farm isn’t enough. Nestlé has the responsibility to push the industry forward by ending this painful practice. And as cow’s milk sales curdle, Nestlé can be a true food leader by churning out more vegan options, starting with Edy’s and Dreyer’s ice cream!

Today, our cow was joined at Häagen-Dazs in DC by volunteers who held signs and distributed leaflets shining a bright light on the suffering behind Nestlé’s ice cream while dishing out delicious, kind vegan ice cream samples.
