The critically-acclaimed health documentary Forks Over Knives has taken the media by storm, earning recommendations from Oprah to Ellen. Even the companion book has become a New York Times best seller.

Despite the flurry of attention, Executive Producer Brian Wendel kindly sat down with us to share his inspiration for creating the film and healing a nation.

This summer, our DC office has been fortunate enough to host an incredible line-up of outreach interns!  These college and high school students have dedicated their summer breaks to spreading a message of compassion: from hosting feed-ins and leafleting events to reaching out to area restaurants and grocery stores, their selfless efforts are helping animals everyday, and for that, we are continually inspired and grateful!

One decade ago, shortly after being handed a leaflet exposing the cruelties forced upon animals raised for food, Aashish Bhimani approached Compassion Over Killing about getting involved to help educate others — and he’s never looked back. Since joining our volunteer team, Aashish has coordinated leafleting and tabling events, helped train new volunteers, hosted educational workshops in schools, and spearheaded a successful restaurant outreach campaign in his community. Most recently, he worked with Telegraph Station in Arlington, Virginia to add several new hearty vegan options to its menu.
