Two new flavors just served up bring Ben & Jerry’s vegan ice cream to a sweet eleven options! Ice cream lovers can now enjoy Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Chocolate Caramel Cluster without the cruelly produced dairy.

In an interview with VegNews, new Ben & Jerry’s CEO Matthew McCarthy said that Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough is a fan favorite, making it a no-brainer to expand the delicious flavor to vegans, too!

This shift towards dairy-free ice creams may be a response to rising consumer demand for plant-based options, but McCarthy also stated to VegNews that the decision was driven by a desire to reduce the company’s carbon footprint.

“As a dairy company, we know that the majority of our carbon footprint comes from the milk and crops that we use,” the Ben & Jerry’s CEO said to VegNews. “Our goal is to reduce our carbon by 40 percent per pint container by 2025, and 80 percent per pint container by 2050. We anticipate there will be much innovation, including the expansion of our non-dairy line, between now and 2050, that will help us accelerate our carbon reduction.”

Ben & Jerry’s isn’t the only company vying for a spoonful of the non-dairy ice cream market. Other brands like So Delicious, Halo Top, and even Magnum are debuting new vegan flavors all the time.

Moo-ve over, dairy. Looks like consumers are making it clear that they prefer their sweet treats to be sustainable and compassionate.
