One marathon a day for 366 days in a row: vegan couple sets new world record
An Australian couple in their 60s have set a new world record — they’ve run a marathon a day for 366 days in a row. How did this power couple fuel up for their runs? They completed this journey while eating entirely raw vegan foods.
Since beginning this undertaking, Alan Murray, 68, and Janette Murray-Wakelin, 64, have run a total of 9,776.75 mies. Both are originally from New Zealand but have spent their lives traveling the world, running and advocating for a healthy lifestyle. When asked why they chose to run a marathon a day for 366 days, they responded that they want to lead by example and hope to inspire others to believe in themselves, follow their dreams and achieve their goals by making more conscious lifestyle choices.
Alan and Janette didn’t get to where they are today without setbacks. Perhaps one of the biggest occurred when Janette, at age 52, was diagnosed with breast cancer and given a prognosis of living six months to a year with chemotherapy. Janette chose to embrace a natural path to health, and now, in her 60s, teaches and guides others who encounter similar health obstacles.
Their goal with the “Running Raw” project is to inspire and motivate conscious lifestyle choices, to promote kindness and compassion for all living beings and to raise environmental awareness for a sustainable future.
