Bravo Packing (not Bravo Pet Food) has potentially distributed contaminated dog food in your area.

Has your dog become sick after eating frozen raw dog food from Bravo Packing, Bravos, or Tefco? Have you become sick after handling such dog food?

Bravo Packing is a New Jersey manufacturer of frozen raw dog food. It may use the names “Tefco” or “Bravos” for its pet food. On March, 3, 2021, Bravo Packing issued a recall for two of its frozen raw dog food products. On March 16, 2021, Bravo Packing expanded the recall to include additional products. The full list of recalled products includes those labeled “Performance Dog,” “Green Tripe,” “Beef,” and “Tripe.”

These products may contain Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes. Both Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes may pose serious risks to human and animal health. Bravo recalled these products after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration inspected its premises. Images of two of these products’ packaging are below.

Dogs with Salmonella infection may be lethargic and have diarrhea, bloody diarrhea, fever, and/or vomiting. Some pets may have decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain. Humans infected with Salmonella may experience nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and/or fever.

Dogs with Listeria infection (called Listeriosis) may experience diarrhea and vomiting. Humans infected with Listeriosis may experience fever, muscle aches, severe headaches, nausea, vomiting, stiffness in the neck, confusion, loss of balance, and convulsions.
