With requests pouring in from compassionate coffee consumers looking for animal-friendly options, Starbucks has taken several positive steps, including being one of the first US coffee chains to offer soy milk.
Compassion Over Killing (COK) has been urging the company to take next steps by adding vegan foods to its menu, via our Change.org petition we launched with Jane Velez-Mitchell. After hearing from thousands of consumers, Starbucks gave COK a promising update:
“We are in the testing stages of several new products that would qualify as vegan… we have our vegan customers in the forefront of our minds and can’t wait to present some new food options to accommodate the vegan diet and our loyal customers that have requested these options.”
Since then, Starbucks has added both almond and coconut milks to its ways to make coffee sweeter for you and for animals. And now comes vegan food!
Starbucks just introduced a vegan overnight grains breakfast at 600 of its New York locations! This healthy option is complete with steel cut oats, quinoa, coconut milk and chia seeds.
While you fuel your mornings with this new addition, thank Starbucks for including a vegan option and encourage them to continue expanding their vegan menu:
