The Investigation
Widespread animal cruelty was documented at Ali Meat International in Orlando, Florida, during the 2025 Eid al-Adha holiday. The footage, which was sent to Animal Outlook by someone who attended and openly recorded the event over two days in June 2025, shows lambs, goats, and cows having their throats cut without stunning or pain mitigation.
The footage also reveals:
- Children performing slaughter: Workers physically guided a child's hand to cut a lamb's throat with a knife
- Untrained customers performing slaughter: Paying customers performed throat cuts, often using multiple sawing motions instead of the simultaneous cuts required by law
- Prolonged suffering: Animals remained conscious for up to three minutes after throat cuts, showing clear signs of distress including blinking, vocalizing, and kicking
- Pervasive abuse: Workers repeatedly shocked cows with electric prods on sensitive areas including faces and necks and hit a cow with the side of a paddle
- Improper handling: Workers threw bleeding animals into piles and carried lambs upside down by legs
Expert Analysis
Veterinary experts who reviewed our footage confirmed that animals remained conscious for extended periods — in one case, a cow showed signs of consciousness for at least three minutes after their throat was cut.
History of Violations
This isn't the first time cruelty has been documented at Ali Meat International:
- 2024: USDA cited the facility after a failed stun attempt, noting the facility "does not have a robust, systematic approach to humane handling"
- 2021: The facility was suspended after an inspector witnessed an employee throw a conscious lamb against a metal fence
