The latest issue of Arrive, Amtrak’s onboard magazine, is currently greeting millions of passengers with a cover feature that announces: “Going Veg: From long-time vegetarian Paul McCartney to occasional vegan Oprah Winfrey, millions agree that the meatless movement means better health for people and the planet.”
Inside, readers are introduced to this feature article – “Green Acres” – with a message that gets right to heart of the story:
“Going meatless isn’t just for rock stars, former presidents and other celebrities. There’s a cultural shift afoot toward a more healthful, humane, and environmentally sound lifestyle.”
That’s not all! If readers are hungry for more, a few pages later they’ll find yet another article about vegetarian eating: “Sweet Greens – Vegetables Take Their Place at the Table.” It’s an 8-page spread loaded with colorful food images along with interviews of well-known chefs, including Kate Jacoby and Richard Landau from Philadelphia’s award-winning all-vegan restaurant Vedge – and it highlights the “evolution of vegetables and how they’ve come to make everyone crave their food. Even meat-eaters.”
If you’re making plans for your next Amtrak trip, be sure to check out this magazine in print and stroll on down to the Café Car where you’ll find a “vegan burger” available on the menu plus snack options that include hummus with pretzels.
Not planning on taking the train anytime soon? That’s okay – you can read the full articles online:
