This past Saturday, March 31, nearly three thousand people gathered in Austin for the first-ever Texas VegFest. From food vendors and cooking demos to live music to kids’ activities, there was something for everyone, and the event was a huge success!
COK was thrilled to be part of this inaugural event: as a speaker, sponsor, and exhibitor. In addition to hosting a workshop about how to get more active for animals by reaching out to restaurants as well as contacting companies like Subway to add vegan options, our booth was busy throughout the day. Countless people stopped by to grab a copy of our brand new 2012 Vegetarian Guide to Austin, ask questions about veg eating or pick up one of our popular “Ask Me Why I’m a Vegetarian” tees.
To kick off the celebrations, COK teamed up with ATX Vegan Drinks on Friday night to host a pre-party benefit at Cheer Up Charlies. More than 100 people joined us — and over a dozen people walked away with prizes including a free workout with vegan bodybuilder Robert Cheeke, gift certificates to Rabbit Food Grocery, and volumes 1-8 of Dr. Greger’s The Latest in Clinical Nutrition DVDs.
Visit COK’s VegAustin Facebook page for even more photos from both events.
