Did you know that since 1938, Americans have dedicated the first Friday of June as National Donut Day? Donut shops around the country, including Dunkin’ Donuts, are celebrating by giving away free (you guessed it) donuts.
Dunkin’ Donuts is the world’s largest coffee and baked goods chain with nearly 8,000 locations throughout the US and it serves up more than 50 varieties of donuts – each one made with egg and dairy products.
You can help put a compassionate twist on National Donut Day by asking Dunkin to offer a vegan option. Let the company know that a growing number of consumers are looking for egg- and dairy-free options, and it’s time to offer a healthier and more humane version of one of America’s favorite foods.
Your voice matters: last Fall, after hearing from consumers, Dunkin’ added almond milk to its menu to “accommodate guests looking for a non-dairy alternative.”
National Donut Day offers the perfect opportunity to thank Dunkin’ for adding this dairy-free option for coffee while also encouraging the company to take the next step: offer a vegan donut! Be sure to also leave a note on their Facebook page.
While you’re at it, why not ask Krispy Kreme and Tim Hortons, too? The more vegan options, the merrier!
