Kimberly Elise (Diary of a Mad Black Woman, The Manchurian Candidate) penned a letter to the CEO of Kraft Heinz. She urged him to offer families a healthier and more compassionate BOCA Foods (a Kraft Heinz brand) by dropping dairy.
In 2010, our campaign prompted Kraft Heinz to remove eggs from its meatless BOCA line. Though that is a promising step that impacts the lives of millions of hens, dairy remains in the majority of BOCA products.
“I’m reaching out to encourage you to make healthy, sustainable, kinder foods more accessible by dropping dairy from BOCA. More and more parents are choosing to forego dairy products and feed their families vegan food, but unfortunately, we can’t enjoy most of BOCA’s product line — yet. In offering a veggie burger, you’ve already recognized that consumers want less violence and more nutrition on their plates. Please, catch up with your competitors and offer a 100% vegan BOCA brand.”

BOCA trails competitors in vegan products
Once a household name, BOCA now trails behind massively successful competitors like 100 percent vegan Beyond Meat. In fact, market research firm Packaged Facts projects retail sales of plant-based dairy and egg products will rise at an average annual rate of 6.0 percent, reaching $5.2 billion by 2024. A recent Nielsen report even found that plant-based sales are outpacing those of other foods and beverages.
More than 46,000 people have signed our petition calling on Kraft Heinz to make its BOCA brand 100 percent vegan.
Time and again, our investigative videos have exposed rampant animal abuse in the dairy industry, which relies on the systemic exploitation of gentle cows and their calves. The heartbreaking truth of dairy is a reality far removed from the “happy” cows shown on deceptive, misleading product labels.
