Happy New Year! After a year full of amazing victories for animals, we’re ready to keep up the momentum and tackle 2019. And with The Economist naming 2019 the “year of the vegan,” we have a feeling that living a compassionate lifestyle is going to be easier and more mainstream than ever before.

Standing strong with your support, we’ve been able to continue creating change for animals–and you can do the same. While you’re making your new year’s resolutions, keep in mind these 9 ways you can help save animals in 2019–starting right now.

  1. Try veg!

This new year, resolve to leave animals off your plate. By making a simple switch to vegan foods, we can safeguard animals, our health, and the environment. To get started, check out all our free recipes and tips on TryVeg.com and sign up for Meatout Mondays, COK’s weekly newsletter with vegan recipes, stories, calls to action, and more.

  1. Pledge to turn over a new leaf!

We’re here to help you transition to a more compassionate lifestyle–and so are many other groups. If going vegan seems daunting, try a plan like Veganuary! When you take the pledge to go vegan for the month of January, you unlock all kinds of great resources to get you started. Then, later in the year, you can keep up your momentum by renewing your pledge and having friends and family join you for COK’s VegWeek 2019.

  1. Share the truth to fight factory farming

Why not use the powerful tool of social media to be a voice for animals? COK’s eye-opening undercover investigations reveal the truth behind the closed doors of animal agribusiness–but the truth can’t get out there without your help. To help us spread the word, share investigation footage or a thought-provoking piece from COK’s Voices of Compassion blog.

  1. Make your voice heard–sign and share a petition

Signing and sharing a COK petition is easy and quick–and it has a huge impact. Our petitions show just how many people are demanding more compassionate foods and policies. In fact, this year we were able to deliver a quarter of a million signatures to the door of the USDA urging the agency to stop dangerous high-speed slaughter.

Sign and share one of our active petitions today to: urge Dunkin’ to offer a vegan donut, tell Tyson Foods to stop cruel rapid growth, and ask the USDA to put a stop to high-speed slaughter once and for all. Find more here!

  1. Help make vegan eating business as usual

At COK, we’re committed to making vegan eating mainstream and accessible. And that means bringing vegan options to major restaurant chains and stores across the country. You can help! In addition to signing a petition, you can put pressure on companies to roll out vegan options by sending them a message directly. To take action, check out our campaigns for vegan options at Dunkin’ Donuts, Starbucks, and Little Caesars.

  1. Lend your support

Your generous support has made all of 2018’s victories possible. And by continuing to give, you can help us power through into 2019 to save more animals and make vegan eating easier and more accessible. Consider making a one-time or monthly donation today, or check out other creative ways to give–including Facebook fundraising or shopping Amazon Smile.

  1. Wear your message

Nothing says compassion like wearing your heart on your sleeve. Help spread the vegan message by sporting a shirt, reusable tote, or sticker from COK’s estore. Plus, check out our favorite vegan brands for t-shirts and accessories at TryVeg.com!

  1. Inspire others

Already vegan, and hoping friends, family, and many others will join you on your vegan journey? Spread the word by sharing our free Vegan Starter Guide full of recipes, meal ideas, shopping list suggestions, and more. You can order just a few to share with people you know, or in bulk for inspiring leafleting!

  1. Get involved!

Many inspiring causes for animals need your help–whether that’s with an advocacy organization, farm animal sanctuary, or activist group. This year, lend a little time to the cause by volunteering for animals. If you’d like to get involved with Compassion Over Killing, check out our volunteer opportunities or internship program!

Together, we can continue building a more compassionate world and speaking up for animals. By making a few small changes, you can have a huge impact–and we’re here to help.

As always, thank you for your generous support. From everyone at Compassion Over Killing, cheers to a happy new year and a powerful 2019!
