#EndHumanewashing

What is Humanewashing?

Humanewashing is a collection of widespread marketing tactics designed to deceive us into believing that most meat, egg, and dairy companies care about the welfare of farmed animals far more than they actually do. Humanewashing promotes the illusion of farmed animal well-being while hiding the extent of farmed animals’ illness, horrific suffering, and very early deaths. You can see humanewashing in a variety of places: advertisements, labels, packaging, social media content, and seemingly trustworthy certifications. Below are a few examples.

Staged photos and happy animals

Often times, companies that use factory farms will stage photoshoots of happy animals and green pastures, often in a different country, to trick consumers into thinking the animals have lives a good life prior to ending on our plates.
